Macomb, Michigan, March 16, 2020 — The Macomb County Foundation will launch its first $50M gift center in the U.S. and expand the number of community programs available through its charitable foundation, its CEO said Tuesday.
The Macomb Regional Foundation is the second of three regional foundations Macomb established in 2017 to focus on creating more opportunities for Macomb residents and visitors.
“We’re excited to have a place to put the money that we already have, and we’re looking forward to giving back to our community,” said David J. Turek, Macomb’s chief operating officer and founder of the Macomb regional foundation.
The foundation has also established partnerships with other Macomb charities, including the Macombs Foundation for the Arts, which is providing arts education, Tureck said.
Macomb has a population of about 10,000 people.
About 20% of Macomb county residents are children, Turedck said, and they often need help to navigate the complexities of life, including food, transportation, employment, and medical care.
Turek said the foundation will also be investing in more affordable housing.
It will be opening its first home for low- and moderate-income families and children in March 2020.
