In 2018, Rockford County began accepting charitable solicitation registrations from individuals, organizations, and foundations.
As of June 1, 2019, Rockfield had received 1,934 registrations, and the registration process for these organizations is similar to the registration of charitable organizations.
The only difference is that they are being processed by the Rockford Charitable Organization Registration Division.
The Rockford Charity Registration Division will determine whether a charity’s registration status can be changed to that of a charitable organization, and will notify the charitable organization if they have to do so.
Rockford will also notify the charity if it is notified of a change in status and ask for further information.
The Rockfield Charity Registration division will notify a charity if they receive a letter from the Rockfield County Commissioner of Elections stating that the charity is a charitable solicitation registrant.
Rockford County Commissioner Joe Kagan said that he expects that by June 2020, about 15,000 new registration applications will be processed.
